Good morning everyone. The retro recipe of the day is:
5 slices of bacon
1 small green pepper
1/4 cup onion
2 cans pork & beans
1/2 cup BBQ sauce
2 tbsp brown sugar
Cook bacon until crisp. Crumble the bacon and set aside. Cook onions and green pepper in drippings until soft. Stir in beans, BBQ sauce and crumbled bacon. Pour into 1 1/2 quart casserole and top with 2 slices of uncooked bacon. Cook at 350 for 50 to 60 minutes.
I got this little gem when I purchased a cookbook at my local Goodwill Industries store. When I got home and started reading the book this fell out I’m so glad I found this recipe because I have a overabundance of vegetarian canned beans that I didn’t know what I was going to do with.
